Analysis synthesis evaluation
The design process varies greatly between analysis and synthesis. Next, I will name some design processes that express this oscillation of synthesis and analysis of the design:
Programming and designing
This comes from an architecture method where a building design is planned and the requirements to meet them, offering the most optimal solution taking it as a problem.
Diverge / converge vs Narrow / Expand
For designers, divergent means having many options and then narrowing down their options, which is called convergence, on a specific problem. The options are rearranged to better solve the problem. This can be easily reversed, depending on the data you have.
Decomposition / recombination
This model is divided into subproblems, then follows a problem analysis procedure
Dynamics of divergence and convergence
This model repeats the process of divergence and convergence of analysis and synthesis. Decisions are made and decisions are made to improve the future.
Overall, the design process must converge
The main objective of this method is to reach the final design where there are moments to broaden the search for new ideas.
Gradual shift of focus from analysis to synthesis
The synthesis of a design project starts from the beginning, is focused and gradually changes. Analysis is part of all phases of design and synthesis, which has previously been discussed, is in a very early process
Problem to solution: sequence, parallel process or loop?
The design process is a sequential activity. We define the problem before knowing how to solve it. The solution is an inherent problem. Once the problem is defined, we later clarify a solution.
Walking process
This method highlights that many design processes focus on theoretical and prescriptive maps before being descriptions of current behavior.
